Trainwreck: Movie Review

"Trainwreck"is deeply innovative and unconventional for a romance comedy and that's actually a great thing. On top of that, Amy Schumer proves that she can be and will be one of the biggest names in Hollywood with a stunning performance. The film's crude, crass and in-your-face humor added with its injection of numerous sports cameos helps churn out a film that will cater to both sexes.
It’s been drilled into Amy’s (Amy Schumer) head since she was a little girl by her father that monogamy isn’t realistic. Now a magazine writer, Amy lives by that credo; enjoying what she feels is an uninhibited life free from stifling romantic commitment. But when she finds herself starting to fall for the subject of the new article she’s writing, a charming and successful sports doctor named Aaron Conners (Bill Hader), Amy starts to wonder if she has been doing relationships all wrong.
Yup, "Trainwreck" easily could have been a trainwreck if you know what we mean but it isn't. The film turns the romcom genre around with a fresh take that not only satisfies the females but also the males. The film's success is a combination of a lot of things but it wouldn't work without Amy Schumer. Schumer isn't your conventional leading lady. Looks-wise, she's normal and her character's romantic life is definitely the complete opposite of normalcy - you could even say she's antagonistic in that aspect. This whole fresh take on a leading role combined with Schumer's crass and dirty humor is a volatile mix of non-stop laughter. As for her leading man Bill Hader, he also gives a swell performance as an all-too-serious sports doctor on the rise and there's definitely an inkling of chemistry between them. As for the cameos, they are surprisingly well made. Notwithstanding Lebron James who proves he may not only be the King of the court but he has some talent being an actor too. Overall, "Trainwreck" is a funny romance comedy that's a refresher. It may have some rough edges but those are completely forgivable with all the pluses it brings into the table.
