Theater Shows to Satisfy Even the Most Ardent Movie Fan

For the avid movie fan, the idea of going to the theater can take some persuading. However, when hearing rave reviews from friends who’ve just come back from a screen-to-stage adaptation, their interest is often piqued.

Rock On!

Rock of Ages has returned for a limited run through to early January 2020. It’s one to see for anyone who enjoyed the movie of the same name but felt a live production would have been more impressive.

With classic songs and fan favorites like “I Wanna Know What Love Is” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” there’s plenty to get you singing along with the crowd.

In its original run, Rock of Ages was nominated for a Tony Award no less than five times. It’s a musical extravaganza with rock ‘n’ roll underpinnings and a romantic storyline to keep things interesting. Running at the New World Stages on 340 West 50th Street in New York, the over 2-hour running time will keep you on the edge of your seat, even if you’re more of a movie person than a theater one. The Lion King, based on the beloved Disney movie, is touring in theaters across the U.S. currently as a lively musical. First seen on the stage 25 years ago, the latest production values will keep audiences happy.

If you’re a big kid who would love to see actors portraying the many wonderful characters from the Disney movie, you’re in for a big treat. The musical production is spending time over a series of dates in Boston, New York, Louisville and the Grand Rapids in Michigan.

Music and lyrics include contributions from movie composer Hans Zimmer as well as Elton John and others. Lyrics are by Tim Rice, who has an extensive pedigree in the theater with many productions over several decades.

The Wicked Witch of the West is Back!
