Netflix Newest Animated Feature STEPS Premiering on November 20, 2026

Netflix is preparing to flip the fairy tale script this fall with its upcoming animated feature Steps, premiering worldwide on November 20, 2026. Alongside the film's premiere, Netflix will also drop the official soundtrack, anchored by a new track from BLACKPINK’s JENNIE titled “Someone to Hold.”

Think you know Cinderella’s "evil" stepsisters? Steps invites audiences to think again. Tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, Lilith (Ali Wong) steals the Fairy Godmother’s (Bette Midler) magic wand and hijacks the Royal Ball alongside her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu). Their scheme unintentionally shatters the classic story and dooms the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of Priscilla (Nikki Glaser), a villainous schemer who swoops in to seize the throne.

To set things right, Lilith must form an unlikely alliance with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried). Together, they embark on an epic quest through the Screaming Woods, facing off against biker trolls and evil henchmen to save the kingdom—and, most importantly, repair their sisterly bond.

The official companion album drops simultaneously with the film's release on November 20.

Soundtrack Highlights

  • Featured Single: “Someone to Hold” performed by BLACKPINK’s JENNIE.

  • Original Songs: Four original tracks written and produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter, featuring songwriting contributions from Rose Gray.

  • Featured Performers: Additional vocals provided by Amanda Seyfried, Rose Gray, and Emei.

  • Original Score: Composed by Academy Award winner Kris Bowers (Bridgerton).

Steps joins Netflix's growing library of acclaimed animated original features, alongside hits like K-Pop: Demon Hunters, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Nimona, The Sea Beast, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Over the Moon, and Klaus.

The movie and soundtrack will both be available to stream globally on November 20, 2026.
