Tom Cruise and Alejandro G. Iñárritu Team Up in "DIGGER"

Two Hollywood heavyweights are joining forces. Academy Award winner Tom Cruise is set to star in Digger an original film directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, the feature promises an intense, odd, and high-stakes cinematic experience.

In the film, Tom Cruise takes on the title role as the most powerful man in the world. The narrative centers on a high-octane race against time as he embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s ultimate savior while trying to stop a catastrophic disaster he personally unleashed from destroying everything in its path.

Digger boasts a stacked, award-winning cast. Joining the lead are Oscar winner Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Oscar nominee Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons. With Emma D’Arcy, Burn Gorman, Sophie Wilde, and Robert John Burke rounding out the supporting cast.

Written by Iñárritu alongside his Oscar-winning Birdman co-writers Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone, as well as Sabina Berman, the production brings together an incredible roster of industry veterans behind the camera. Notably, Iñárritu reunites with long-time collaborator Emmanuel Lubezki. And in a bold visual choice, the team shot Digger entirely in classic VistaVision format to capture the film's scale, detail, and dramatic intensity.

Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, Digger will roll out internationally starting September 30, followed by its North American debut in theaters and IMAX® on October 2.
