“THE END OF OAK STREET” in PH Cinemas and IMAX Starting August 12, 2026

Get ready for an 80s-inspired throwback that brings prehistoric chaos right to the suburbs. The End of Oak Street is officially heading to theaters next week, August 12, 2026. Produced by legendary filmmaker J.J. Abrams and written and directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), has got us excited for its potential to be a sleeper hit.

At the center of the story is the Platt family, played by an powerhouse cast featuring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, alongside rising young stars Maisy Stella and Christian Convery. "The cast is phenomenal," shares producer J.J. Abrams. "I’ve known Anne a little bit for a long time and have wanted to work with her forever. Ewan as well. So, this was a bit of a dream to get a chance to work with them both."

Director David Robert Mitchell was equally thrilled with the dynamic between Hathaway and McGregor as parents Greg and Denise Platt. Mitchell promises audiences will see a totally new side of Hathaway as she navigates intense moments of suspense, fear, and sheer survival instincts. "When we started to get to the suspense and danger and fear, she took it to another level," Mitchell says of Hathaway’s performance. "It was something that I hadn’t seen her do, and it was really exciting... strength, fear, pain—it’s believable, it’s real."

For McGregor, stepping into the role meant diving headfirst into high-octane physical stunts—which included dodging prehistoric beasts through suburban front yards. "Fighting with the dinosaurs was always fun to do," McGregor jokes. "Annie and I had some really long runs to do – over gardens, down streets, jumping fences... careful not to put our ankle down a hole. But we had fun doing that."

For Hathaway, the film’s charm lies in its retro feel, tapping into the classic "family horror" and adventure movies of decades past. "One of the things I love about this film is that it does remind me of those wonderful films from the ’80s," Hathaway explains. "Movies that were full of suspense, movies that you could watch with your parents... You felt grown up and sophisticated that you got to watch this movie where scary things were going on."

The film revolves around a mysterious cosmic event which suddenly rips Oak Street out of normal suburbia and drops the neighborhood into an unrecognizable, prehistoric environment, the Platt family must stick together to survive the dangers lurking right outside their front door.

Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, The End of Oak Street hits theaters and IMAX internationally starting August 12, 2026, and in North America on August 14, 2026.
