Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2: Movie Review

The end is finally here. July 14, 2011 marks the release of the seventh (correction, it's the eight film to be exact) and final film of the well-acclaimed (both as books and as movies) Harry Potter saga. The series is one of the most iconic not only because it spans a whole generation but because it delivers consistently in the box office - not only in terms of popularity but most importantly it always delivers a quality movie experience. Here's the sure thing, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" not only exceeds all our expectations it completely obliterates it. It is the movie that stands out of all the six others that went before it and it is the ultimate film to cap off the Harry Potter saga. Beyond that, it also has the distinction of being the best film yet from 2011. Read on to catch the full analysis of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2".

In the epic finale, the battle between good and evil escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe from the clutches of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). After destroying one Horcrux, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) continue to seek the remaining Horcruxes in an attempt to finally destroy the evil lord. However, Voldemort aims to complete his quest for ultimate power and launches an attack on Hogwarts with the aid of the Elder Wand. The trio return to Hogwarts for one last stand but it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone from doom.

We complained that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1" lacked oomph. After watching the second half of the Deathly Hallows films, we now know why. Part 2 considerably makes up for what action was left out in the first and it is pretty obvious now that Part 1 was just a stepping stone. To describe "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" in one word would be perfection and perfect (or synonyms of it) is a word you will see popping up a lot in this review. The acting was solid as usual and nostalgic seeing how much everyone has grown-up. The action was just epic(and this happens non-stop from start to finish). Battle after battle was more colorful, more interesting after the other. As for the story and plot, what could you expect from a best-selling novel? Of course it's going to be beautifully written and with a moral lesson to boot. More crucial though is the pacing, which was just superb. We had our eyes glued from start-to-finish never flinching or yawning a bit. Even this film's 3D implementation is the best we have seen yet adding more depth and newness to familiar places and popping out 3D objects at the perfect time. Do you have to watch "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2"? The answer is pretty obvious at this point and if you haven't started (or finished) the other films then this is one compelling movie to just do it.
