'Everest' Opens Venice Film Festival - Unveils Posters, Trailer Too!

Universal Pictures has released three posters and a trailer for its gripping, survival thriller “Everest.” The trailer you can view later at this post. More importantly, "Everest" has been selected as the opening film, out of competition, of the 72nd Venice Film Festival (September 2nd – 12th 2015). The world premiere of “Everest” will be screened on September 2 in the Sala Grande theatre (Palazzo del Cinema) at the Lido.

Recently, opening the Venice Film Festival is a great sign of things to come for any film. Works such as "Gravity" and "Birdman" have opened the film fest and won a lot of praise and major awards. As stated by UK's The Guardian, "Everest" is on pace to get nods for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, “Everest” documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.
The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal. They are joined by Sam Worthington, Robin Wright, Emily Watson and Keira Knightley. “Everest” is directed by Baltasar Kormákur and produced by Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek's Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes. The film is adapted for the screen by Mark Medoff (“Children of a Lesser God”) and Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy.

Opening across the Philippines on Sept. 16, 2015, “Everest” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures
