In a near-future society where entertainment and violence collide, The Running Man reigns as the top-rated show on television. The rules are simple but deadly. Contestants, known as “Runners,” must survive for 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins. Every chase, every kill, and every breath is broadcast to a bloodthirsty audience, with each passing day bringing a higher cash reward.
At the center of this chaos is Ben Richards (played by Glen Powell), a struggling working-class man desperate to save his sick daughter. Out of options and running out of time, he agrees to join the game at the persuasion of its charming yet ruthless producer Dan Killian (Josh Brolin). But what begins as an act of desperation quickly becomes rebellion, as Ben’s sharp instincts and unwavering defiance turn him into an unlikely hero and a threat to the very system that makes the show's concept flourish.
Directed by Edgar Wright, The Running Man promises an adrenaline-pumping mix of action and biting social commentary and a thrilling update to the 1987 cult classic based on Stephen King’s novel. The film also stars Colman Domingo, William H. Macy, Lee Pace, and Michael Cera.
“We’re really breaking out the heavy artillery — the big explosions,” Powell says in the new Behind the Action featurette for the film. “Hopefully I’ll make the stunts look cool. This is going to be fun.”
The Running Man opens November 12, 2025 only in cinemas.
