Get over here! The latest trailer for Mortal Kombat II is here. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the sequel to the 2021 reboot promises to up the ante with even more gore, high-stakes combat, and the long-awaited arrival of a fan-favorite icon. The biggest buzz surrounding the sequel is undoubtedly the arrival of Hollywood’s most arrogant martial artist, Johnny Cage, played by Karl Urban.
Mortal Kombat II picks up where the last film left off. The Earthrealm champions are forced back into battle, but the stakes have never been higher. This time, they are pitted against the dark rule of Shao Kahn, a threat that could end the existence of Earthrealm entirely. The sequel sees the return of the surviving champions alongside some exciting new faces with Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion and Joe Taslim as Bi-Han. Adeline Rudolph, Tati Gabrielle, Damon Herriman and Chin Han round out the cast.
True to its video game roots, the trailer doesn't shy away from the franchise's trademark gory nature. We see flashes of bone-crunching combat and the appearance of the monstrous Baraka.
Mortal Kombat II opens in cinemas and IMAX internationally beginning May 6, 2026 in the Philippines. Join the conversation online using #MortalKombatMovie.
