At times, Together feels like a rough cut of a potentially stronger film. Certain moments simply don’t work, and some ideas ultimately feel underdeveloped. Yet at its core, this is an experience that satisfyingly blends love, supernatural horror, and body horror into one compelling package. It's definitely unforgettable on its premise alone.
Longtime partners Millie (Alison Brie) and Tim (Dave Franco) move to the countryside in hopes of saving their faltering relationship. Instead, the change only magnifies their issues. During a hike, they become trapped in an underground cave. The encounter eventually sparks a disturbing transformation of both their love and their flesh.
2025 has been a remarkable year for horror, and Together continues that trend though, in our opinion, it doesn’t quite reach its full potential. The central relationship between Millie and Tim is crucial to the story, yet the build-up and development fail to fully align with the film’s conclusion. The ending’s emotional anchor is clear, but the path to get there feels rushed and even unearned. Alison Brie and Dave Franco bring undeniable charisma and chemistry to their roles, making it all the more disappointing that their performances aren’t matched by a more robust and fully-developed narrative.
Where Together succeeds is in its unsettling tension and striking and memorable imagery. While it won’t terrify viewers outright, its body horror sequences are convincingly created, gruesome, and quote a fun time to experience happening on-screen. These moments leave a lasting impression even if the overall film experience feels uneven. Even though it is imperfect, Together still delivers a disturbingly entertaining unique ride for fans of the genre.
