Road trips are the ultimate symbol of freedom with open highways, curated playlists, and the thrill of the unknown. Every year, roughly 130 million people pack their bags and hit the pavement in search of adventure. But there is a darker side to the statistics: 15,400 of them are never seen again.
This May, André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe) returns to the director’s chair to turn the van life dream into a claustrophobic nightmare in his latest horror-thriller, Passenger. The film follows a young couple looking to escape the grind of daily life for a scenic cross-country journey. Their trip takes a sharp, permanent turn into terror after they witness a gruesome highway accident. In the aftermath of the carnage, they realize that they didn’t leave the crash site alone. A malevolent, demonic entity known as The Passenger has hitched a ride in their van. As the miles clock up, the entity begins a relentless psychological and physical assault, making it clear it won't stop until it has claimed both their lives.
To bring this terrifying vision to life, the director has assembled a robust cast with Lou Llobell, Jacob Scipio, Melissa Leo and Joseph Lopez.
If you’re a fan of high-stakes horror that lingers long after the credits roll, you won’t want to miss this. Check your mirrors and lock your doors. Passenger opens in the Philippines only in cinemas on May 27, 2026.
