Sex and the City : Movie Review

We definitely got “carried away” with the movie. We’re sure that every woman is dying to see this film, especially those who have been followers of the hit series from HBO. You can even see that majority of those who are watching in the movie house are females or if you see a male, you are sure that he had been dragged by his girlfriend or wife to see the film. The movie is one of the best feel good movies we’ve seen in a very long time. Every character you’ve grown to love in the TV series can be seen in the film, along with the beautiful New York City that is said to be the fifth main character of the show, and of course, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel, and Carrie’s favorite, Manolo Blahnik ("I'm confused with so much names..."-Jed). All the witty comments, girl talks, fashion and of course the sex, are back once again with this movie adaptation.

Seeing the girls walking together again in the streets of New York with their designer bags and shoes and hearing Carrie’s voice once again narrating the story would definitely bring a smile to anyone's face who was a fan of the show. The film showcases the lives of the Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte four years after we last saw them on TV. Carrie is still together and in love with Mr. Big and they’ve decided to take a further step in their somwhat stagnant relationship. While Miranda is continuing to be her uptight self that causes a strain with her relationship with Steve. Samantha, on the other hand, is adjusting to her life in LA and with her steady boyfriend Smith and lastly, Charlotte becomes even more blessed with her happy life with Harry when she finds out she’s pregnant.

The movie is so fun and colorful and there are so many things that happened in the movie that you wouldn’t even notice that its running time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. It’s like a whole season of the TV series packed in one fun movie. Still, you surely wouldn’t get bored even if you’re not a fan of the show. The designer clothes and the shoes are enough to entertain you all throughout the movie ("Is this applicable to the guys?" -Jed). Add to that are the different and lovable personalities of the four girls plus a new character in the form of Carrie’s personal assistant (Louise played by Jennifer Hudson) the men, and several twists and happy endings. It is definitely a must watch not just for the ladies who loves girly films but for the straight men too! The are only two main gripes for this movie and first on the line is definitely the many, many cuts. Why the "R" rating if you are going to cut all of the "R" scenes anyway? Second is the very weak ending. You could see that with four (even five) stories to tell, develop and conclude, the makers of this film ran into the problem that it couldn't be done in a normal length film. Too bad the conclusion suffered due to it.

Disclaimer : This video is around 25 minutes long. It includes the trailer, some interviews, some clips from the film and a behind-the-scenes look at the movie.
