Culture and arts are seemingly distant after thoughts in our fast-paced society. But it is good to know that there are still those that make sure that our treasures from the past are kept and restored to their former glory for future generations to cherish. For Filipino films, we're lucky to have the ABS-CBN Film Restoration effort which, slowly but surely, is making sure that our treasured films are never lost and never forgotten. In fact, just a few days ago, the group announced via their Facebook page that two classic films from the Seventies have been digitally-restored. Even better, both will premiere in the Cinema One Originals 2018 Film Festival happening from October 12-21, 2018. The two films are:
Omeng Satanasia (One a Moth) (1977)
Synopsis: Due to numerous failures, an aging scientist who is trying to create a formula to bring back his youth decided to sell his soul to a gay demon and must find true love within a year.
Starring: Dolphy, Babalu, Maricel Soriano, Azenith Briones
Minsay' Isang Gamu-Gamo (Once a Moth) (1976)
Synopsis: A Filipino nurse, Cora de la Cruz, dreams of moving to America. But when her brother is killed, her ideas change. The film is a direct critic on the American military presence in the Philippines

Let's hope that more and more film restorations efforts will come in the coming months and years. Bravo!
